The property tax mill rate for Winneshiek County will stay the same in 2014-2015

Winneshiek County supervisors Wednesday afternoon wrapped up their work on a proposed 2014-2015 county budget and scheduled a public hearing for 12:00 noon on March 10th.

The budget proposes a total rural tax levyrate of $8.50 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, which is the same as last year; and a total urban levy rate of $6.41 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, which is 14 cents per $1,000 lower than this year's urban tax rate.

The proposed budget includes a2.5% increase in wage rates for union employees and a 3% increase fornon-union, non-elected employees. Elected officials compensation will be voted on after the publichearing.  Any of these proposed budgetfigures can be lowered by the Board of Supervisors after the public hearing,but cannot be raised.
