NICC Board approves 2014-2015 budget

The Northeast Iowa Community College Board of Trustees has approved a 2014-2015 budget that calls for property taxes to go up ever so slightly.

The $62.3 million budget sets the property tax rate NICC will levy in the coming year at 90.789 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation, compared to this year's rate of 90.45 cents and last year's rate of 98.407 cents.

NICC is maintaining the same mill rate at the same time it approved a tuition freeze for the 2013-2014 school year to avoid cost increases for students and is considering extending that tuition freeze for 2014-2015.
