Firewood restriction to affect local campgrounds

The statewide quarantine restricting the movement of ash products and hardwood firewood will be felt at the Pulpit Rock Campground in the spring.
 
Decorah Parks & Recreation officials say the use of firewood brought in from outside counties will be prohibited during the 2014 camping season.  The practice is seen as one of the major ways the emerald ash borer has been spreading.  While Winneshiek County has not yet reported any emerald ash borers, Allamakee County and six other Iowa counties have.
