Latest emerald ash borer sighting leads to a statewide ban on moving ash wood

A statewide quarantine restricting the movement of ash products and hardwood firewood out of Iowa has been issued since the confirmation of an infestation of Emerald Ash Borer in Waterloo.

Effective immediately, the Winneshiek County Conservation Board will now prohibit the bringing of any firewood to Winneshiek County parks and campgrounds, including Lake Meyer and Kendallville campgrounds. Firewood is available for purchase at Lake Meyer and Kendallville. Unauthorized firewood found on Winneshiek County lands may be confiscated and destroyed by agency staff.
