Sign-up has begun for an 8-week reading and discussion series focused on current world affairs. The group will meet on the 2nd floor of Decorah Public Library on Mondays from 4-5:30 p.m., March 10th through April 28th.
The group text will be the Great Decisions briefing book- published annually by the Foreign Policy Association- which highlights eight of the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing Americans today. The book provides background information, current data, and policy options for each issue. Topics for 2014 include defense policy; Israel and the U.S.; Turkey's Challenges; Islamic awakening; energy independence; food and climate; China's foreign policy; and U.S. trade policy. More information about each topic can be found on the library's website at www.decorah.lib.ia.us .
Anyone interested in participating in the group should stop by the front desk of the library to register. Great Decisions briefing books are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for $20.
