Winneshiek Medical Center on Sunday kicked off its year-long observance of the hospital's 100th anniversary with an "Honor the Founders Luncheon" at Washington Prairie Church.
In addition to Sunday's observance, there will be a community picnic May 1st at the medical center campus and a "Grand Gala Celebration" on November 1st—the exact date of the 100th anniversary.
Decorah Hospital opened its doors at 305 Montgomery Street on November 1st of 1914. The hospital later changed its name to "Smith Memorial Hospital," then moved to the present campus at 901 Montgomery Street in 1971.
