Northeast Iowa Community College President Dr. Liang Chee Wee has been nominated as one of more than 60 people nominated this year as a "Person to Watch in 2014" by Des Moines Register readers.

Dr. Wee received the nomination for having "transformed the campus' culture."

President Wee was among the first to institute a tuition freeze for the 2013-2014 academic year.  He also has introduced "interest-based bargaining" between college employees and the administration.

NICC Board of Trustees President Dr. Ken Reimer says of Dr. Wee, "People listen when he speaks about his passion for education and the importance of creating opportunities for students."

Wee was named president of Northeast Iowa Community College in October 2011.  He joined the College as the Calmar campus provost in August 2007 and served as interim president from July through October of 2011.

Wee earned a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in management information systems, a Master's of Arts in business administration and a Ph.D. in business administration, all from the University of Arizona, Tucson. He and his wife, Jane, live in Decorah.
