Fort Atkinson given $11,354 state grant

The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs has awarded a $11,345 grant to Fort Atkinson.

The money comes from the state's Certified Local Government grant program, which is aimed at promoting historic preservation.  The money will be used to help pay for an archeological survey of a possible Winnebago village in the Fort Atkinson area.

The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs also awarded a $12,500 grant to Mc Gregor to pay for an evaluation of the Sullivan Opera House to determine what needs to be done to update the building so it is ready for future use.
