Kerndt sworn in as Decorah City Council member

Tade Kerndt is the newest member of the Decorah City Council.

Kerndt was sworn in Monday night as an at-large district city council member after existing city council members voted 4-2 to appoint him to the position.  Former city council member Jarrad Walter received two votes.

Kerndt stressed to city council members that he was born and raised in Decorah and is a local businessperson.  Kerndt was questioned about his ownership of property outside the Decorah city limits, but he told city council members he had "no plans to move any time soon."

Kerndt replaces Rachel Vagts, who moved to Berea, Kentucky.
