--by decorahnews.com reporter Paul Scott:

Well, we've made it through our annual countdowns of the year's top stories.  We have had our Top 10 Ask Mr. Answer Person questions.  We've had our Top 10 Most-Read Stories of 2013.  And, of course, our Top 10 Stories of 2013, selected by our staff.

But this year, there has been one local news story that didn't fit in any of these categories, but was so wonderful, we are naming it "decorahnews.com's favorite local news story of 2013."

In August, Decorah Police were flooded with phone calls because a Waterloo man was going door to door, offering to make free salads.  The police received so many calls they actually issued a news release saying the man was legitimate and people did not have to worry about him--so long as they didn't give out any financial information.

So congratulations, Mr. Door-to-Door Salad Maker Guy--you are decorahnews.com's Favorite Local News Story of 2013!
