The popular but seasonal "Courtyard" beer and wine garden will now become a year-round business under the name of "Courtyard & Cellar."
The business was opened by Decorah resident Nathan Matter in 2012. Now Matter and business partner Benji Nichols plan to utilize the basement of the Armory building, offering small plates of food along with unique craft beer and wine. The business will also sell large-format bottles and 'growler' fills of select craft beers on a carryout basis.
The lower level of the turn-of-the-century Armory building features large rustic beams and limestone walls. Matter and Nichols are in the process of remodeling the space to create intimate settings for small groups as well as educational wine and beer tastings, weekly trivia nights and occasional live music events.
