The trial of a Boone man on first degree murder charges has been moved to Decorah.
According to on-line court documents, Judge Michael Moon has issued an order moving the trial of 39-year-old Alexander Fazzino to Winneshiek County. The trial is scheduled to start June 3rd at the Winneshiek County Courthouse in Decorah.
According to the Des Moines Register, Fazzino was charged in April with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Emily Fazzino. Police found Emily Fazzino dead on the bathroom floor of the couple's Boone home in January of 2012.
Fazzino's trial was moved out of Boone County in October to Buchanan County because media coverage of the case would make it hard to ensure a fair trial in Boone County. But the court facilities at the Buchanan County Courthouse are unavailable in June, according to the Iowa court system records, so the trial is being moved to Decorah.
