Ask Mr. Answer Person: A better response to a question about recycling appliances!

(Recently Mr. Answer Person answered a reader's question about recycling appliances http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2013/12/7031.html .  That prompted the following e-mail from Winneshiek County Sanitary Landfill Office Attendant Meghan Scheidel)

I read the recent Mr. Answer Person question and response regarding the recycling of appliances and electronics. The Winneshiek County Sanitary Landfills accepts both appliances and electronics, that are then properly recycled off-site by local Iowa based businesses and are NOT landfilled.  This may be an option your readers aren't aware of, that could help them find a new home for that old TV collecting dust in the basement!
