Community college students typically have a lot of things going on in their lives. They may hold a job, may have a family and may have to commute to school. Because of that, it's sometimes a struggle to complete their degree.
Because of that, NICC and Iowa's other community colleges have joined together to gather, report and analyze student enrollment data and to re-focus their efforts on degree completion.
NICC vice president for academic affairs Dr. Kathy Nacos-Burds says the school is actively working to encourage current students to complete their degrees. NICC is currently collecting data on students in its 97 certificate, diploma and degree credit programs to identify ways to keep students engaged in college, persist in their studies each semester and to complete their academic programs.
