Police are investigating illegal dumping into Upper Iowa River

Police are investigating the illegal dumping of trash along the steep bank of the Upper Iowa River, just below Palisades Park. The dumping appears to have happened within the last day or two, and includes about 20 bags of trash and other materials.

decorahnews.com captured this photo before City of Decorah Street Department crews arrived to clean up the debris.

The good news is that police are investigating and the materials did not appear to seep into the frozen river bed. Anyone with information should contact the Decorah Police Department at 382-3667.
