The zoning classification of several pieces of property along Railroad Avenue in Decorah has been changed from M-3 to C-2.
The prior M-3 zoning classification would have permitted a number of industrial uses, including stockyards, anhydrous ammonia storage and/or pumping, salvage yards, asphalt plants, sand or gravel pits and gasoline storage tanks.
City Administrator Chad Bird says "any industrial use is not conducive to the neighborhood." Because of his recommendation, the Decorah City Council has approved a C-2 commercial zoning classification for the properties instead.
