It was not a good Thanksgiving break in Olin Hall on the Luther College campus.
A significant portion of the north side of third floor of Olin Hall had several inches of standing water after a fire sprinkler went off in an unoccupied office early Friday afternoon. The water also ran down to the second and first floors as well as the basement of the building.
Several faculty offices, second floor north classrooms, student study lounge and restrooms were heavily affected.
Once the problem was discovered, many Luther College employees gave up part of their holiday weekend to remove the water and get the dry-out started. The quick response and the long hours of work prevented a much more damaging situation. By midweek the building had returned to mostly normal.
