The Oneota Community Food Co-op has raised over $3,200 for local food pantries.
The money was raised at last month's "Taste of the Holidays" event at the store. Nearly 200 people attended the event. Attendees were able to sample various cheeses, hors d'oeuvres, and wine before eating a dinner that included organic turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, salad, candied yams, green beans and desserts made by the Co-op's Water Street Café. Numerous Co-op suppliers donated ingredients to be used in preparing the meal.
This year's donations were used to purchase items such as chickens, fresh produce, nut butters and other packaged grocery items needed by the food pantries.
