Charles Lore sworn in as 5th Ward Decorah City Council member

The winning candidate in November 5th's election for the City of Decorah's 5th Ward City Council seat--Charles Lore--is taking office a month earlier than usual.

Lore was appointed to the Ward 5 position Monday night by a unanimous vote of the Decorah City Council.  The 5th Ward seat on the city council had become vacant because former 5th Ward city council representative Randy Schissel, who had been redistricted into 1st Ward, beat Jarrad Walter in that race and immediately became the 1st Ward City Council representative.

Since that left the 5th Ward seat open, city council members decided they would appoint Lore to the seat he had already won in the election, allowing him one month additional time to prepare for city budget discussions early next year.
