More and more fresh, locally grown food is being used in area school districts

The Northeast Iowa Food and Fitness Coalition now has working relationships with 18 out of the 20 school districts in its service area.

Project Coordinator Ann Mansfield says six Americorps workers are in the field, working with the school districts in putting on nutrition classes, planting vegetable gardens and working with food services employees to integrate fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables into school lunches.
