Decorah Fire Department receives Iowa DNR grant

The Decorah Fire Department has received a grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Forestry Bureau.

Decorah was one of 90 communities to receive the volunteer fire association grants.  The DNR, in cooperation with U.S. Forest Service's State and Private Forestry division, awarded $194,820 in grants to rural fire departments to aid their efforts in protecting Iowans and their property from wildfires.

The grants help pay for wildfire suppression equipment, personal protective equipment and communications equipment.

In addition to Decorah, other fire departments receving grants included Lawler, Luana, McGregor, Ossian, Volga, Waterville, Waukon and West Union.
