Stepped-up traffic enforcement begins Monday

Posted: Sun, Nov 24, 2013 9:30 PM

The Decorah Police Department and the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department will be participating in a Special Traffic Enforcement Program starting Monday and running through Sunday.

The stepped-up enforcement will be aimed at getting motorists to use safer driving habits, reduce speeds and buckle up.

The goal of the statewide effort is to have zero traffic fatalities during the Thanksgiving holiday.  Last year nine people lost their lives in traffic accidents on Iowa's roads during the Thanksgiving holiday.
