All five members of the Decorah School Board spent one hour touring North Winneshiek School on Monday evening, as discussions between Decorah and North Winneshiek about future joint ventures are about to begin.
North Winneshiek School Superintendent Tim Dugger led the tour of the entire building--all its classroom and other facilities.
North Winneshiek now serves 152 students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. Parts of the school building were built in 1964, other parts in 1968 and a new addition was added in 1997.
Following the tour, Decorah School Board vice president Melanie Tietz, one of two Decorah representatives to a smaller study group that will begin meeting soon, thanked the North Winneshiek School Board for helping in the tour. Tietz said she was impressed with how well-maintained the North Winneshiek School is.
