The State of Iowa has awarded grants to two Winneshiek County projects aimed at improving water quality in the area.
The approved projects have already completed watershed assessments that identified critical water resource areas. They will focus on implementing specific water quality or flood reduction improvements.
The Winneshiek County Soil and Water Conservation District received a $300,000 grant for a project involving the Yellow River's headwaters. The Howard County Soil and Water Conservation District received a $240,000 grant for a project involving Silver Creek in both Howard and Winneshiek counties.
