Winneshiek Medical Center is making plans for its Centennial Celebration

2014 will mark the 100th anniversary of a hospital in Winneshiek County.  It was 100 years ago that Washington Prairie Luther Church minister Reverend Paul Koren raised $15,000 in donations to establish a hospital in Decorah. In 1914, "Decorah Hospital" opened its doors.

Winneshiek Medical Center is planning several events to mark that anniversary.  The first will be an "Honor the Founders" luncheon on Sunday, January 19th, at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church.  The next will be a community picnic on May 1st at Winneshiek Medical Center.  The wrap-up event will be a gala held Saturday, November 1st, at a location to be determined.
