Downtown bike racks were a success

The chairperson of the City of Decorah's Streets Committee says this past summer's experiment with bike racks in downtown Decorah was a success.

Gary Rustad says the bike racks on Water Street in front of the NE Iowa Montessori School and on Winnebago Street next to Donlon's "were utilized a lot more than I thought they would be."  Rustad said there were still problems with bikes parked on sidewalks, but that problem isn't a reflection on the value of the bike racks.  The bike racks have been taken inside for the winter, but they will be put out again next spring, says Rustad, because the experiment "has gone very well."
