Winneshiek Medical Center has received the top possible rating from federal inspectors for its mammography services.

Federal Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) surveyors recently visited the hospital for an inspection and Winneshiek Medical Center achieved the highest rating possible.  The annual Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) federal inspection covers six major areas: equipment performance; technologist quality control; medical physicist survey; personnel qualifications; medical reports and outcome audits.

Winneshiek Medical Center provides a full-time, on-site Mayo Clinic Health System radiologist who specializes in breast health and breast disease diagnosis.

The American Cancer Society suggests women should begin yearly mammograms at age 40.  If a woman has a family history of breast cancer, she should consult with her health care provider fo radvice on when to begin a baseline mammogram.
