Decorah native Sarah Nelson earns "Teacher of Promise Award"

Former Decorah resident Sarah Nelson, a modern language teacher at Southview and Northview Middle Schools in Ankeny, has received the Michael Oates Teacher of Promise Award from the Iowa World Language Association.

The award is given to teachers who show great promise, passion and talent for teaching world languages in their first two years of the profession.  In addition to the award, Nelson received $100 toward classroom supplies and a paid conference registration for the IWLA conference of 2013. 

Ankeny Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bruce A. Kimpston said, "Sarah's passion for teaching and creativity will certainly benefit her students and help them to learn and achieve at high levels."
