Ask Mr. Answer Person: Leaf pickup

Nathan e-mails: "Does the City of Decorah still do leaf curb pick-up? The website says yes, but it also indicates you need to bring your leaves to the street department bins."

Mr. Answer Person says: "Yes, this is a little confusing!  But the exact wording of the city website is: "Leaves may be placed in the leaf bin at the Decorah Street Department, Railroad Avenue (until) November 15th."

The key word here is "may."  There's no requirement to take your leaves to the Street Department bin.  However, the more leaves that get placed next to the curb, the longer it will take city street crews to get around to your neighborhood.

So if you can take your leaves to the Street Department offices on Railroad Avenue, you're doing a good thing.  But it's not a requirement.
