A & J Petersburg, Grinnell Mutual announce grant contest

A&J Petersburg Agency of Decorah is encouraging Decorah area community groups to enter a grant contest sponsored by Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company.

Grinnell Mutual is seeking grant applications for projects that would help improve communities in the Midwest.  "Working Together, Making It Better" will award grants totaling $3,500 to three non-profit organizations whose projects have positive impact on the community.

There is an October 31st deadline to submit proposals to Grinnell Mutual.  Then people will be invited to visit Grinnell Mutual's Facebook page to vote for the project they believe is the best project for "Working Together Making It Better."

Grinnell Mutual will accept submissions on its Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/myGrinnellMutual, through October 31st. Projects must have (or affiliate with) a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and be located in one of 12 states in which Grinnell Mutual does business: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Grinnell Mutual will announce the finalists Tuesday, November 12th.  Any Facebook fan can vote on project finalists to receive grants. Voting ends Tuesday, November 26th. The top three vote getters will receive $2,000, $1,000 and $500, respectively.
