World traveler "D1" has returned to Decorah

The famous Decorah bald eagle "D1" has returned to Decorah once again after spending three months in Polar Bear Provincial Park off Hudson Bay in Canada.
 
Raptor Resource Project Director Bob Anderson was able to locate her Thursday morning in a field on the north side of the Upper Iowa River, not too far from Gundersen Decorah Clinic.  
 
Said Anderson afterward, "I don't think anyone would have speculated that this NE Iowa eagle would spent her summers high above the tree line in the land of the polar bear only to return to Decorah each autumn."
