Effigy Mounds has reopened

Effigy Mounds National Monument near Mc Gregor reopened to visitors Thursday morning.  The park, visitor center, and hiking trails had been closed to visitors since October 1st due to the governmental shut down.

"I can't tell you how happy we are to be open again," said Effigy Mounds Superintendent Jim Nepstad. "We had several employees here this morning well before the sun came up so we could get all the signs removed and the buildings opened up."
