Nordic Dancer auditions to be held Friday; practice sessions begin Monday

Posted: Thu, Oct 17, 2013 6:49 PM

Auditions for the 11th group of Nordic Dancers will be held next week, as well as two practice sessions.

All third grade students graduating from Decorah High School in the year 2023 will have the opportunity to audition.  A new group of dancers is formed every five years and dances together through the 12th grade.  Parents are actively involved with fundraising, support and transportation.  Members of the Nordic Dancers must make a 10 year commitment to be in attendance at all Nordic Fest Performances.  Practices are also mandatory unless excused by the director.  Practices will begin in January, once a week and continue through Nordic Fest, weekly or bi weekly.

Two practice sessions for those interested will be held next week—from 3:15 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. both Monday and Tuesday in the Carrie Lee gym.  Students will be taught two or three simple dances which they will then perform at the final audition as a   group.  The audition will be held from 3:15 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. next Friday, October 25th, also in the Carrie Lee gym.  Practices and auditions are for the 3rd grade students only.  Letters or emails will be sent out following auditions to all participants with a list of those who made it.
