The Edulog tracking system is now operational on the fleet of Decorah School District school buses.
The system involves distribution of identification cards to all students. Then, because each student scans their card upon bus entry or exit, the computer system is able to instantly track the on and off happenings of students. The system, with access available to all school offices, is also able to track the location of buses and communicate with the drivers.
Edulog went active for almost all students last week, and officials say it is still a work in progress, but are optimistic about it being an additional tool in providing safety for students, and assurance to parents. It is not known whether or not the system will be used for high school students since so few of them ride the buses.
