Iowa DNR board approves $100,000 grant to the City of Decorah for Freeport extension of Trout Run Trail

The Iowa DNR's Natural Resources Commission has given final approval to a REAP grant that will benefit the Trout Run Trail.

The City of Decorah will receive a $100,000 REAP grant to help with the Freeport trail extension.  The money will help pay for 1.2 miles of the Trail From Freeport, from just beyond the edge of the city to the County Conservation Board-owned Freeport Park.

The DNR's Natural Resources Commission approved the grant Thursday because "The Freeport area is one of the highest growth areas in the Decorah area (and) this trail will connect that section to the 11-mile Trout Run Trail."
