First frost hasn't occured yet--which could set a record

At the risk of jinxing it, let us mention that Decorah hasn't experienced a frost yet.

Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says that's unusual.  Of the 117 years of complete temperature data, Decorah had a temperature of 32 degrees or lower by the 8th of October in 97 of those years.

The latest date for an official low temperature of 32 or less for Decorah is October 30th. That happened the fall of 1973.
