Government shutdown hasn't financially affected Winneshiek Medical Center yet

The almost two-week federal government shutdown is being felt in the medical care industry as a whole, but Winneshiek Medical Center Chief Financial Officer Lynn Luloff says the hospital hasn't felt a financial impact yet.

The government shutdown did not affect funding for Medicare and Medicaid, but there were some "discretionary funds" that have been shut off.  Luloff says the hospital continues to receive Medicare and Medicaid payments and--for now--hasn't been hurt by the shutdown.
