City of Decorah reminding the public to trim tree branches

The Decorah City Council is reminding property owners of their responsibility to maintain trees in the boulevards.  Tree branches need to be at least 14 feet above streets and alleys and at least 8 feet above sidewalks.  Also, ornamental trees and plantings cannot encroach onto the sidewalk area.

To help property owners get rid of tree branches, the Decorah Street Department will chip branches placed on boulevards from October 21st to the 25th.

Property owners with any questions can call the Decorah Street Department at 382-2157.

The Street Department is also announcing it has opened the leaf bin at its offices on Railroad Avenue.  Leaves can be left in the bin until November 15th.
