State and federal highway officials tour Freeport Trail area

Six representatives from the Iowa Department of Transportation and the U.S. Highway Administration visited Decorah on Monday for a first-hand look at the future route of the Freeport extension of the Trout Run Trail.

Winneshiek County has received a $1.6 million federal TIGER grant to help pay for building a 2.5 mile bike trail and rehabbing 2.4 miles of River Road.
