A Waucoma man, Elvin Heraldo Alberto-Monge, has been charged with a violation of federal immigration laws.
A grand jury in Cedar Rapids issued an indictment which claims Alberto-Monge was removed from the United States on September 1st, 2010, for an immigration violation. The indictment states Alberto-Monge was found back in the United States on September 7th of this year and had not obtained the consent of the U.S. Attorney General's Office nor the Homeland Security Administration Secretary.
Court records state Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies were investigating a different criminal case in August--one involving two Ossian residents--when they also came across Alberto-Monge at that time.
