Decorah Post Office gets broken into

Someone has broken into the Decorah Post Office.

Decorah Police received a phone call from postal workers shortly after 4:00 Thursday morning, stating a suspect had forced entry into the building, but left before officers could arrive.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.  Anyone with information should contact the Decorah Police Department at (563) 382-3667.

Postal officials were working Thursday to determine the amount of loss, if any, in the burglary.  The investigation into the break-in is continuing.
