The Forestry Division of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources has issued a weekly fall color report which says the peak of fall colors in Northeast Iowa should be around October 10th.
The DNR says the weather recently has been great, with sunny days and cool nights, which is good for developing fall color. But leaves are just now beginning to change colors. Sumac and Virginia Creeper are beginning to show some red coloration and walnuts are developing a yellowish cast. A few maples are starting to show some orange on the fringe.
