The Domestic Abuse Resource Center at Helping Services will begin a series of classes this week designed to train people to assist domestic abuse victims.
The 30-hour training is free and qualifies graduates to answer the crisis line to comfort and listen to the caller, to transport a victim to safety, to respond in person to a crisis call, or to be a short-term safe home for a victim and their children.
Training sessions will be held at Luther College in room #10 of Loyalty Hall. The first session is Thursday, September 19th, from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. There are a total of six sessions, running through October 1st.
To register for the training, or to get more information, contact the Volunteer Program Coordinator for the Domestic Abuse Resource Center, Teresa Dehning, at tdehning@helpingservices.org or online at www.helpingservices.org/trainings.
