Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum has announced that children's author Jan Brett will visit Decorah in November.
Vesterheim is hosting the exhibition "The World of Jan Brett" starting October 14th. Brett's visit to Decorah will be tied to the exhibit at the museum and the release of her newest book "Cinders: A Chicken Cinderella."
Brett will be in Decorah on Sunday, November 10th. She will give a short presentation in the Decorah High School auditorium beginning at 10:00 a.m. and then sign books until noon. Admission to both the presentation and signing is free, but by ticket only. Tickets will be made available first to Vesterheim members from Monday, September 16th through Monday, September 30th. From Tuesday, October 1st through Friday, October 25th, tickets will be available to everyone. There will be a limit of four tickets per family—please order only as many as you will actually use. Visit www.vesterheim.org to print off an order form for tickets, or stop by the museum and request one. Fill out the form and mail it, along with a stamped, self-addressed business envelope, and your tickets will be mailed back to you. To allow for enough processing and mailing time before the event, no orders will be taken after October 25th.
Seating for the presentation is not reserved. Auditorium doors will open at 9:30 a.m. A selection of Jan Brett's books will be on sale in the lobby both before and after Brett's 10:00 a.m. presentation. Books and keepsakes are also available now at Vesterheim's Museum Store.
The exhibition "The World of Jan Brett" will be on view at Vesterheim from October 14th through January 5th.
