Winneshiek County supervisors gave a sympathetic hearing to Decorah resident Norma Hervey on Monday.
Hervey wants to have a solar panel display installed on her property. But in order to put the solar panels in the best location on her property, she's asking the county to vacate part of the right of way in front of her property.
When the College Drive/Highway 52 intersection was paved in 1994, extra right of way was purchased along College Drive. But County Engineer Lee Bjerke agreed that the right of way is not needed.
Supervisors say they will schedule a public hearing later this month on a motion to vacate the right of way so Hervy can move forward on her project.
