The members of the Northeast Iowa chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution are trying to figure out what to do about the document which established their organization.

Members have learned that the vellum document has heavy creases where it has been folded for storage.  Not only that, but apparently sometime in the past tried to iron out the creases, resulting is crinkle damage at the site where heat had been applied.

Midwest Conservation Preserve in Minnesota has advised the group that while the fold marks could be relaxed, the iron marks are irreversible.

For the time being, the chapter will continue to store the document folded as it is in an acid free envelop in its own acid free box.

Also at Saturday's program in Decorah, special guest Jodi Freet of Gilbertville gave a power point presentation about DAR members in the 18 to 35 year age group.
