Trails From Freeport still raising money to supplement grant

Despite Thursday's announcement that the Trails From Freeport project has received a $1.6 million federal grant, the group's work is not yet over.
 
Trails From Freeport board member Heidi Rockweiler says the application for the federal grant specified that TFF would raise $190,000 in location donations for the project.  So far just over $135,000 in donations has been raised.
 
A fundraiser at the Bright Spot Car Wash in October is expected to bring in more donations, while another fundraiser has been scheduled for December at Rubaiyat.
 
Rockweiler says Trails From Freeport is thrilled to receive the federal grant.  She says about the road and trail construction, "It's going to happen in 2014."
