Should Winneshiek County's zoning ordinance have additional language about "musical events?"

Winneshiek County supervisors are reviewing the county's zoning ordinances in the wake of the past weekend's rock concerts at Chimney Rock Campground.

Supervisor Floyd Ashbacher says the campground owner knew about the need to apply for a conditional use permit, but did not apply for one.  Ashbacher says Deb Keefe "chose to go ahead anyway."

County Attorney Andy Van der Maaten says the requirement to apply for a conditional use permit is on the books "to make sure the people who are affected by (music concerts) have a voice."  County Board Chairman John Logsdon says that did not happen in this case "an that was what upset a lot of people."
