U.S. District Judge Jon Stuart Scoles of the Northern District of Iowa has issued a court order to keep Daniel Wildman of Cresco in federal custody.
Wildman, who earlier was charged with three counts of attempted muder in Winneshiek County, now faces two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.
Judge Scoles heard testimony that police officers last October found a 12-gauge shotgun, a .22 caliber rifle and ammunition in Wildman's possession when he was taken into custody on October 23rd of last year.
Other testimony concerned Wildman's criminal record. On August 4, 2004, at the age of 15, Wildman was charged with and convicted of third degree burglary. On August 24, 2007, he was charged with third degree theft. Four days later he was charged in three separate case with third degree burglary of an unoccupied vehicle.
In 2008, Wildman faced criminal charges five times. On April 30th he was charged with and later convicted of fifth degree theft. On June 23rd, Wildman was convicted of a controlled substance violation. On August 4th, while on probation on the drug charge, he was charged with and later convicted of fifth degree criminal mischief. On October 4th, Wildman was charged with third degree criminal mischief, a charge that was later dismissed. On November 10th, he was charged with making a false report to law enforcement, a charge that was later dismissed.
On May 4, 2009, while on probation Wildman was charged with domestic abuse--a charge that was later dismissed. On May 3rd, Wildman was found in violation of his probation on the drug charge and was sentenced to 14 days in jail.
On June 28, 2010, Wildman was charged with and later convicted of interference with official acts. On November 15th, Wildman was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.
On December 20, 2011, he was again charged with control of a firearm by a felon--a charge that was later dismissed.
On October 16, 2012, Wildman was charged with three counts of attempted murder, one count of intimidation with a dangerous weapon and one count of control of a firearm by a felon. All five charges were dismissed after federal charged were filed.
In all, Wildman been charged with 22 separate criminal offenses since 2004.
