Winneshiek Medical Center is offering Winneshiek County senior citizens a second distribution of free coupons to be used at the farmers market in Decorah this season.  The coupons will be distributed from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. next Wednesday, August 28th, at the Decorah Area Farmers Market and from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. next Thursday, August 29th, at the Decorah Senior Dining Center.

Participants will receive coupons for locally grown fruits and vegetables.  Seniors who received coupons at the first distribution are eligible to receive coupons again.

The Winneshiek Medical Center Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Program is funded by The United Way of Winneshiek County, with participating vendors from the Decorah Area Farmers Market.  The coupons can only be used for fruits and vegetables and may not be exchanged for money.  There is a limited amount of coupons available and they will be distributed until they are gone.

Recipients of these coupons must be Winneshiek County residents, age 65 and older, and bring proof of their residency and age to the distribution site.  A Winneshiek Medical Center Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Program ID card or driver's license are both acceptable identifying documents.  If seniors received 2012 coupons, they are asked to bring their purple Winneshiek Medical Center Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Program ID card to help coordinators evaluate the success of the program.  There are no income guidelines to participate in this program.
